Fox Blog 09/04/09 - The Fall Of Frank
Today started like any other day.. I woke up to the howling and barking of the dogs wanting outside.. I put a shirt on and walk outside my room.. There I'm greeted by the other 2 dogs with the third ramming the back of my legs and stepping on the cuffs of my pajama pants... by the door i slide my shoes on and open the door.. the blinding light is a signal for Patches, my brothers little bitch of a dog, to rush by me and run down the yard.. damn mut... I put Kya, my Siberian Husky, on her chain and she runs off into the back yard.. Kally, the older dog whom in Sheperd-Wolf / Bullmastiff .. slowly crawls out of the house and makes her way into the yard..

I walk up the yard and see that the green menace is now starting to build strength and began to take over the left side of the driveway.. it's no wonder our driveway looks like a camp trail... I then walk towards the backyard and peer around the corner.. There before my eyes, was Kya fighting with the green menace.. It has begun fortifying a wall of thorn bushes on the edge of where Kya's chain reach limit was.. Walking back to the door, the dogs done their business, headed back inside.. I unchained Kya and let her in.. Kally as usual was the last cause well.. she is slow... I close the door.. With recon already done, I begin to form a plan of attack against the green menace..

After a few hours I change into my jeans and tshirt.. From the initial recon this morning, the green menace seems to have gained enough territory, that is has begun moving in for the first strike.. While I tie my steel toe boots up, I smile a little.. I know Frank will be up for the challenge.. I grab my hat and head outside.. As I walk up to the garage to unlock the door, in the corner of my eye I can see it .... taunting me... threatning me with the wrath of 1000 deaths.. The green menace almost seems prepared for the battle ahead.. I unlock the door and swing it open.. there in front of me, a great warrior of many battles past.. with newly sharpened blades.. my partner in this never ending war .. Frank the Lawnmower.. annihilator of the green menace..

His orange paint seems to glow ominously as the sunlight hit him.. His body full of scars from many battles with the green menace.. those alone tell how many battles were fought and won.. I finish filling Franks fuel tank up.. he is ready.. As we head up the driveway to the front yard.. I can see the green menace readying up for the battle.. We stop on the edge of the driveway.. i walk to the side of Frank and pull the cord.. He roars to life once more.. I then walk behind and turn the engine speed to full as I hold the safety bar down, Franks blades begin spinning at full speed... theres no turning back now.. we are committed to this battle.. I begin walking forward and the green menace begins fighting back as Franks whirling blades begin to chop down the green menace army down hundreds at a time.. The menace then springs the traps it has set before hand.. broke branches under the trees collide with Franks blades and with a loud banging sound and within a split second the branches are no more along with those damn green menace bastards.. Their tricks wont work on this veteran of war..

What seemed like hours past.. I released the safety bar as Franks blades came to a stop .. We walked onto the driveway and turned down the power and Frank came to an idle .. Almost like a sigh of relief .. I turned to look at the work done.. Thousands and millions of the green menace has been slaughtered.. they put up quite the fight but in the end.. Frank and I were victorious.. Frank was covered in the body parts of the green menaces first wave of attacks but he seemed ok.. engine still purring, we headed for the backyard.. by the garage I topped up Franks fuel tank once more.. We both knew the backyard would be worse than the front.. In the backyard the green menace had more allies.. thorn bushes about 2 - 3 feet tall, the pine trees with the pinecone bombs planted into the green menace forces and well hidden..

With Franks wheels on the edge of the green menace, I turn the engine speed to full and hold down the safety bar.. Franks engine roars once again and i could hear the blades spinning at full power.. Once again we head into the savage war machine that is the green menace.. At first it was going fine.. The thorn bushes were a little bit of a nuisance but were no match for Frank.. It took some time but we got halfway through the backyard with no major trouble.. I was starting to think it was getting too easy.. the green menace wasn't putting up much of a fight.. then suddenly a loud bang.. and another.. and another.... pinecones.. but they were no ordinary pinecones.. they were green ones that were freshly off the pine tree.. damn you tree's .. super hard like rocks, they hit Frank from underneath over and over relentlessly... walking behind Frank I could see the chucks of green pinecones...

We pushed on and Frank gave it everything he had .. We thought we were in the clear having passed the pine tree's... I heard an extremely loud bang and grinding.. Franks muffler came flying off and the handle ripped out of my hands.. Frank flew to the side and the grinding stopped and Frank's engine stopped all together... I couldn't believe what had just happened.. I immediately went to Franks aid.. Pulled him from the grasp of the green menace and fought back to get him to the garage.... It wasn't good at all..

The full diagnosis for Frank was not good .. his blades were totally smashed and dented.. I needed to recover his muffler from the green menace.. I went back to the backyard.. Seems the green menace was distracted enough that they didnt see me.. With a pair of pliers I grabbed Franks muffler and seen what he had hit... a brick.. there was a brick that the green menace was concealing.. I picked it up as well and headed back to the front yard.. I then confronted the neighbors kids about the brick and they admitted to taking them for making bike jumps but blamed eachother for leaving that one in the middle of the backyard.. I then returned to the garage and began to tend to Franks injuries.. I removed his blades.. god they were in really bad shape.. when Franks engine finally cooled off I fixed his muffler and put it back on with a new metal band..

I put Frank up on the repair table for now.. I don't know if his blades are fixable or not.. I will have to talk to the old man and see what he thinks.. i just might make him a set of new blades from the old mans work.. Besides the injuries he took.. Frank seems to be ok.. his engine seems fine.. I'm glad he is ok.. they dont make old bastards like him anymore and he refuses to retire.. I admire his courage and dedication.. Looks like we are going to camp tomorrow so alot needs to be done today to get ready.. Franks blades will have to wait till after long weekend.. As I close the garage door.. I keep my eyes on Frank.. soon we will take our revenge on the green menace.. We will show them no mercy and slaughter them all... See you after the long weekend Frank.. rest well my partner.. my friend..
